Sunbed Safety

Tanning Safety Advice

Sunbed tanning has always, and will always be a bone of contention for many. Some believe that indoor tanning is more harmful for your skin than exposure to the Sun. Others believe the opposite.

Whenever and wherever you are tanning, you must make sure you are aware of your skin tone, aware of your likelihood to suffer from sunburn and most importantly, using the correct tanning and moisturising products.

Here at Jax Sunbeds, we only sell and hire the very best and safest in sunbeds and collagen treatment units. Although there is no law to regulate the testing and safety of all sunbeds, we carry out a full test and examination of all our sunbeds before delivering to our clients.

We will also provide a PAT test on the unit when we arrive at your property. This ensures that you have the peace of mind of knowing that your new equipment has been checked in front of you and is safe to use.

Ultimately, how safe a sunbed is depends on how the customer utilises it and how sensible they are. Here at Jax Sunbeds, we take customer safety incredibly seriously and we would advocate seeking medical advice whenever you have a health concern. This could be rashes, itching or any other skin problems or irregularities.

Safety Advice

Here are some tips to help you use your new sunbed or collagen therapy unit safely:

  • Always ensure that you cover your skin with a tan accelerator or moisturiser before and after a tanning session.
  • Protect your lips with a lip balm that blocks UV light. They are most at risk of overexposure as they do not produce melanin.
  • If tanning naked, make sure that the sensitive areas of your body, i.e. the underarms, buttocks, genitalia and backs of legs, are protected. Otherwise they are more likely to suffer from sunburn as they are not normally exposed to UV rays.
  • Please allow at least 48 hours between tanning.
  • If you have suffered sunburn, cover the area with moisturiser and then wait until the redness has completed disappeared before tanning again.
  • Although you do not have to, we would recommend using tanning goggles whenever tanning. We provide these with every tanning unit we sell or hire out.
